Monica and her family have been Lake Forest residents since 2009. She was elected to the District 67 Board of Education in 2023. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee, following an earlier position as Chair of the Education Committee.

Her Board service has been marked by a focus on responsible budgeting and strong academic outcomes for every student in the District. Beyond the Board, Monica is active in several local community organizations such as the Lake Forest High School APT, the YWCA, the North Shore Civics Club, and the League of Women Voters where she is a past board member.

She also works part-time at the Gorton Center and volunteers at the Northern Illinois Food Bank and North Chicago Community Partners.
