Upcoming Events & Bylaws Update

A Letter from Caucus Vice President Regina Etherton

Hello Lake Forest,

I invite you to participate in three upcoming events to engage with the Lake Forest Caucus, Caucus Connection Candidates and our proposed Executive Officer Slate.

First, we are hosting an Executive Officer Meet & Greet on Saturday, March 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gorton Center. This is a great opportunity to meet the proposed slate, ask questions, and hear more about our shared commitment to serving Lake Forest. We hope you’ll join us.

On March 13, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Gorton Center, we are hosting a Meet & Greet for the candidates who are running for election to the Caucus Committee. Please come and meet your Ward’s Caucus Committee candidates.

Then, our Spring Meeting is on Tuesday, March 18, where voting for the Executive Officer Slate will take place from 2:00–8:00 p.m. at Gorton Center. I hope you will attend and vote YES to support this great team as we continue working to serve the best interests of our community.

I also want to take this opportunity to provide an update on the Caucus Bylaws Review Process.

The Ad-Hoc Bylaws Committee delivered its recommendations earlier this month, and we greatly appreciate the time and effort they put into this work. Our initial goal was to present proposed amendments for a vote at the Spring Meeting; however,  in order to do justice to the breadth of the recommendations made by the Ad-Hoc Committee,  the Caucus Committee requires more time to properly review them. The proposed changes have significant implications for how the Caucus operates, its calendar and procedures, and it is our responsibility to fully evaluate them before moving forward.

On March 11, the Caucus Committee will meet to discuss the recommendations and determine next steps.

To be clear—this process is not being put on hold. We are actively working through the recommendations and determining next steps.

Our priority is to ensure that any bylaw proposed amendments are carefully considered,  serve the best interests of the Lake Forest Community, and are consistent with Caucus operations, procedures and its Calendar, so that the Caucus can continue to thrive and serve Lake Forest.

We welcome your thoughts and encourage continued community engagement. You can reach us at info@lakeforestcaucus.com with any questions or feedback.

The strength of the Caucus depends on community participation,  and I encourage you to stay involved. Please join us on March 1 to meet the executive officer slate, on March 13 to meet your Ward’s candidates for Caucus Committee,  and cast your vote at the Spring Meeting on March 18.

I look forward to continuing to serve each and every resident of Lake Forest!

Sincerely,

Regina Etherton
