An update to our endorsement process -- and what's ahead

The Lake Forest Caucus exists for one purpose: to identify, vet, and recommend excellent candidates for the offices and boards that shape this community. That is the work we are here to do, and it is the work we are focused on.

As part of that commitment, we are clarifying how we will handle the rare circumstance in which a vetted, recommended candidate does not receive a majority vote at the Lake Forest Caucus Annual Meeting. Should this situation occur, a second vote will be held one week later.  The Caucus will, to the extent possible, seek to present two or more previously vetted candidates in this second vote for the community to consider. The candidate who receives a majority in the second vote will receive the Caucus endorsement.

This process, which comports with the existing Bylaws, ensures that Lake Forest always has a Caucus-endorsed candidate on the ballot -- and that the endorsement reflects genuine community support.

With a Mayoral election on the horizon and School Board seats across District 67 and District 115 to fill, we are focused on finding the best candidates this community has to offer.
