THE PROPOSED ALTERNATIVE VOTING METHODS BYLAWS AMENDMENT WILL NOT ELIMINATE “IN PERSON” VOTING

The Caucus proposed Alternative Voting Methods Bylaws Amendment WILL NOT ELIMINATE “IN PERSON” VOTING. The Amendment allows for “in person” and alternative voting methods to be implemented at each election. Those registered voters who want to vote in any election “in person” will continue to be able to do so, while those registered voters who cannot appear “in person” will have the option of voting remotely. Voting remotely will only be available for those registered voters who sign up for it. Those who choose not to register for electronic voting will be able to continue to vote “in person,” and any voter who has registered for electronic voting would also retain the right to instead vote "in person" at their option. Simply put, members will continue to have the option to vote “in person” at any election, if desired.

This Amendment expands voting options for registered voters. Alternative and electronic voting options were recommended by the Ad Hoc Committee in all of their “no vote” recommendations.

This Amendment will be voted on at the Caucus Annual Meeting on October 14, 2025 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm at the Gorton Center.  In order to pass any Bylaws Amendment, a 2/3rds affirmative vote is required. This Amendment will transform voting in Lake Forest and make it accessible to all, even those who historically have been unable to vote because they could not be present at the designated time and day to cast their vote.

Please vote “Yes” for this Amendment so we can better enable our entire community to participate in the Lake Forest Caucus process!
