Who is The Lake Forest Caucus?
The Lake Forest Caucus Committee is a group of 43 of your neighbors -- volunteers who live in your Ward, send their kids to your schools, and are invested in the same community you are.
Every year, these residents give their time to do something most of us don't have the bandwidth to do ourselves: dig deep into the qualifications of every candidate seeking to lead our city and our schools. They conduct structured interviews, review backgrounds, and ask the hard questions -- all so that when you walk into the voting booth, you can trust that the candidates recommended by the Caucus have been rigorously and fairly evaluated.
The Committee is organized by Ward, so the people vetting candidates are your neighbors -- residents who know this community from the inside. Their work is non-partisan by design, focused entirely on qualifications, character, and commitment to Lake Forest.
This process has been part of how Lake Forest governs itself for over 90 years. It works because neighbors trust neighbors to get it right. The Caucus Committee is how that trust gets put into action.
What is Our Focus this Year?
We’re continuing the Caucus mission: recruiting, vetting and recommending exceptional volunteers for our city government.
This year we expect to vet candidates for School Board (Districts 67 and 115), Mayor and various city committees as positions become available.
We look forward to working with everyone in our community to find the best candidates for these important positions!
