Bill Patterson and his wife Melanie have lived in the Whispering Oaks neighborhood of Lake Forest since 2014. Their decision to become residents of Lake Forest was based on an appreciation of the city’s commitment to building and sustaining a strong community through infrastructure, schools, business and recreation while maintaining sound fiscal policies.

As a caucus member, Bill hopes to not only participate in the vetting of candidates, but to also identify other residents who may be willing to participate in community leadership roles so that the city of Lake Forest can continue to be a wonderful place to live.

Bill grew up in the Chicago area and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Aviation Flight from the University of North Dakota. He currently works as an airline pilot for United Airlines based at O’Hare International Airport as a first officer on the Boeing 767/757 aircraft.

Matthew Beltz

Matthew Beltz is a finance and strategy executive for Allstate Corporation. He currently leads finance for Allstate’s Esurance, Encompass, and Commercial business units. Matt received his MBA from UWMilwaukee in Financial Strategy and his Bachelor’s degree from UW-La Crosse in Mathematics, Political Science, Public Administration and Philosophy. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Matt and his wife Ellen have been residents of Lake Forest since 2014, and have since welcomed two children. Both children are taking full advantage of Lake Forest parks, community events and recreational programs.

Stephanie Hadjis

Stephanie Hadjis earned her B.A. in English Literature from Princeton University and her M.A. in English Literature and J.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After beginning her career in academia, she has been practicing civil litigation for nearly 15 years. She and her husband, Theodore, have lived in Lake Forest since 2015 and are the parents of one son. She is Associate General Counsel at Health Care Service Corporation, the parent company of a number of Blue Cross plans, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Stephanie is excited for the opportunity to serve such a remarkable city.

Mary Jane “MJ” Friedrich

Mary Jane (MJ) Friedrich and her husband Dave moved to Lake Forest from New Jersey in 2014. They have one son who will be entering Lake Forest High School in 2019. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. For the last 20 years, she has worked as a freelance science and medical writer and editor, writing for the medical news section of JAMA. MJ is originally from New Jersey and Dave hails from Rogers Park. They are particularly fond of the many forest preserves here on the Third Coast, where they enjoy walking their dog, Friday. MJ is excited to be able to contribute to the wonderful spirit of community here in Lake Forest.

Benjamin Lemon

Benjamin Lemon attended the University of Michigan and for the past 13 years he worked for Citadel Securities trading derivatives at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade. After living in Chicago, he moved to the North Shore, and then moved to Lake Forest in early 2018. He and his wife Holly and two children, Cecilia and Jude who both attend Deerpath Middle School. Benjamin looks forward to giving back to the community of Lake Forest, protecting and preserving the community values that make it such a unique place to live.

Kathy Lowell

Kathy and her husband Bud have lived in Lake Forest since 1991. They have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl who have all graduated from Lake Forest High School. Kathy taught elementary school for 32 years in Naperville, Lincolnshire, and the final 25 years at The Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth. She just retired at the end of the 2017 school year.

Kathy obtained her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University in Chicago. Both Kathy and her husband grew up in Wisconsin, but have lived in Lake County since 1979. Our family has loved our years in Lake Forest and we want to make sure we preserve the unique qualities of the community.

Peggy Siebert

Peggy and her husband Eric moved to Lake Forest in 1989 with two children attending St. Mary’s and Lake Forest High School. Peggy was raised in Green Bay, graduated from Ripon College, and worked at Northern Trust in Chicago. At the Junior League, she started and chaired a committee that assisted women in residential treatment centers, and started another women’s treatment program Libertyville. Peggy also worked at Williams Sonoma teaching cooking classes. Peggy and Eric are now grandparents and their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter reside in Lake Forest. Peggy looks forward to giving back to the community that she loves.

Kristin Vallaly

Kristin Vallaly and her husband, Michael, along with their three children, have lived in Lake Forest since 2014. Her husband is a Lake Forest native and attended Lake Forest schools as well. Kristin is originally from Central Indiana and received her B.A. in Health Education from Purdue University. Kristin is the current President of the Lake Forest- Lake Bluff Learning Differences Association, has been very active with her Girl Scout Troop and Cub Scout Troop 48. She is also very active with the APT of Cherokee School. Kristin looks forward to joining the Caucus to become further involved in the community of Lake Forest.
